i am a winter's lady
through and through
i love and always will
the overcast days
the crisp wind that nips
and pulls at the sweaters
jackets and coats
cheeks turn rosy
and noses need handkerchiefs
hot chocolate and jammie days
books and books to read
snow flurries that manage to exist
in the south but fly away
too soon oh too soon
a time of dreaming
of planning
of cleaning out and
rearranging
but mostly
a time of quiet
of solitude and peace
listening to the silence
and loving the cold night
burrowed under quilts
on a cloud that drifts
a time of waiting
for rebirth to begin
